BSV supplied and installed several components to replace part of the turbine exhaust. This included a 90 degree elbow in 316 stainless steel, rectangular to round transition piece filled with 600g/m2 of E-Glass woven fabric encased in perforated sheet stainless steel and a rectangular expansion joint assembly in 316 s/s which bolts to the rectangular flange on the transition piece.

Changed out 2 x EJ assemblies on both generators, removed assemblies, back-loaded to our factory where we refurbished both assemblies.
Re-installed refurbished assemblies and also supplied and installed outer ‘Expansion joint’ and weather seal on both units.

BSV were asked to change out the links that support the acoustic bullet within the GT exhaust silencer and refurbish offshore the exhaust expansion joint during the 2017 TAR. BSV carried out an offshore survey using their Rope Access Technicians to allow dimensional information to be gathered for the design of a load bearing platform and hydraulic jack that would be required to support the acoustic bullet whilst the links were changed out. Whilst the expansion joint was removed to allow access to the acoustic bullet links the expansion joint was refurbished on the pipe deck. All works were carried out on time.

Over the years BSV have been engaged to provide temporary high temperature wraps to try and reduce the GT exhaust gas from escaping from a poorly designed expansion joint which had been originally installed. Due to time restraints it had been difficult to provide a long-term solution. It was agreed with TAQA Bratani that during the 2017 TAR, BSV were given an extended duration to allow redesign of the expansion joint and fabricate and install the new EJ. Offshore surveys were carried out prior to the TAR to allow measurements and deign proposals to be considered. The work was carried out successfully on time during the 2017 TAR.

As part of the 2018 TAR BSV were asked to carry out patch repairs on 4 Gas Turbine Exhausts and carry out a Potential Dropped Object Sweep of the exhaust. Both scopes utilised Rope Access Tech’s and techniques.
